Who is Alexander?
Alexander is bright, beautiful, and loving 3 year old boy living in Princeton, WV. He has never walked or crawled and, at age 2, was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) Type II. SMA is a degenerative neuromuscular disease that keeps Alex from fully using his muscles; they will continue to weaken overtime.
Fortunately, Alex has started a new FDA-approved treatment in May of 2017 that will hopefully slow or stop his muscle degeneration. He gets a spinal injection once every 3 months for the rest of his life. Each vial of medicine is $125,000.
Alexander currently uses a wheelchair for independence and will likely need a manual or powered wheelchair for the remainder of his life.
What is our fundraising goal?
We will soon be starting the insurance process to have Alexander fitted for a powered wheelchair. We will need to prove that we can transport the wheelchair in our vehicle and to and from our home.
We are raising $2,500 to construct a proper wheelchair ramp addition to the front of our home. This is crucial for Alexander to receive insurance approval for his powered wheelchair. We have raised $1,500 towards this $2,500 goal thus far!
We have been graciously provided a $500 advertising package from Star 95 Radio that includes fifty 30 second ads to be used by March 30, 2018. We will be selling raffle tickets for this prize to any business, organization, or individual who would like to take advantage of these ad slots to promote their message.
Each entry into the raffle drawing is $20. There will be a max of 95 tickets sold with a live drawing by Alexander scheduled for January 18th, 2018!
